Who is that Girl?

I decided to get off my poker playin', beer drinkin', fast food eatin' ass and hit the gym! You know, this is something that I have been wanting to do for a long time, but just haven't found the heart/money/time to do it. Finally, I bit the bullet and made it work. I honestly got tired of feeling TIRED every day. My daughter is 18 months and she is too heavy for me to carry at 30 pounds. I can't dance with her to the music without getting winded. My back hurts every day when I get out of bed. I don't wear jeans because either my ass hangs out or they cut into my stomach. I don't feel attractive anymore, and we all know that affects the best relationships! So, I finally joined a gym. It's an old fogie gym with equipment from the 1980's, but hey, I fit in there!

Now before you throw me a big party, keep in mind that I have been there 3 times so far. I do the treadmill for 20 minutes and then do a little bit of weights (mostly whatever machines that someone else is doing so that I can watch first). But, I will tell you that today I ran for 3.5 minutes and .30 miles, and did a total of 1.25 miles in my 20 minute segment. Boy, was I proud of myself!

I just hope I can keep it up. Thank you Mom for agreeing to do this with me, and Jeremy, please join us soon because I love you and I want you to be around for me and our child for a long time!!!

Am I addicted?

Lately, I've been playing a lot of Texas Hold'Em poker. It started innocently enough. Jeremy and I had a night off from the kid and nothing better to do, so we went to this bar called the Hillbilly Hideaway. It was our kind of place. Laid back, not overpriced, and good, fun people. The bartender told us that they hold FREE Poker Tournaments on Tuesday and Saturday nights, and we left that night, thinking, cool, but nah, we'll never go....

Fast forward a few weeks and now we know the entire Poker tour schedule by heart. What nights, what locations, if you need to preregister or if you can just walk on in, who the local card shark is, etc.

It was our little Tuesday night date for a few weeks. Just me and Jer and a couple of beers - home and in bed before 11 p.m. My mom would take Emily because my dad was out of town and it was their little Tuesday night date. Then, last Friday, we decided to try out a new location (the bowling alley) because I had already won my "tournament" spot on Tues and the Hideaway. Then, Saturday night, Jer went to the Hillbilly. Sunday, I went to the Pub. Last night, Jer went to the Hillbilly. Tonight, I'm going to the Pub. Friday night we are going to the bowling alley again. So, in the past week we've played in 5 tournaments! oops.... And, when we are not playing for real, one of us has www.partypoker.net up and running! At least it's FREE right?

Remember back when?

I used to go to this bar all the time called "Howl at the Moon". It featured "dueling pianos". Does anybody else remember that? I just heard a song called "Fuck You I'm Drunk" and it just reminded me of being in that bar and having good old time just singing at the top of my lungs! They used to start playing the Michigan Fight Song and then someone would come up and put money in the tip jar and then they would change it to the Ohio State Fight Song and vice versa. Lots O Good Memories!!!

I'm so cool...

I found the these guys before they hit VH1!!! http://twochineseboys.blogspot.com/

Directionally Challenged

I'm new to the area, and I'm constantly getting lost! I have the major roads down, but anytime I have to drive (especially "downtown") I get totally turned around!

Today, I was a total idiot. I had to go work at our downtown office and I had to stop at this place where I've been a few times to drop stuff off. Every time I try to find this place, I can't! I missed the turn, so I decided to go up one road and try to cut back. Oops. I ended up at some intersection and had to make a decision to turn left or right. Me being me, I chose the wrong direction and ended up back where I started! On the other side of the Indian River! How does this happen to me? So, I turn back around and start all over. This time, I make the right turn (WHOO HOO) but I still miss the building and this time, I can't find my own damn office! Argh. So, 20 minutes later I find my office, come in sit down and start writing this blog! I guess I'll have to venture out at lunch and try to find my original destination...

Steak and Shake SUCKS!

Being that it was another beautiful sunny Florida day and I'm not super busy at work for once, I decided to take the drive down the TPKFDR to visit Jeremy for lunch. We usually just hit the place across the street and although overpriced, they have decent salads and sandwiches. But, today, we decided to go to Steak and Shake. BIG MISTAKE. HUGE.

They suck. There is no more eloquent way to put it. They suck. First off, we sit down and place our order (drinks and food). Then we waited. And waited. And almost died of thirst. And waited. 10 minutes later our waitress comes back with everything at once. Including our bill. The timing of the delivery of the bill is crucial. Now, I understand that I was at Steak and Shake which is only one step above McDonalds, but still, she didn't even ask if we wanted a Shake with our Steak before handing over the bill. And it was $18! For a cheeseburger the size of a $.99 cheeseburger deluxe from Wendy's, a very small plate of spaghetti with some shredded cheese, 2 cokes, and some onion rings. WTF? The first thing we notice is that Jeremy's food is half the size it used to be, but the same price. Apparently, they now offer a larger portion for an upcharge. Then, they forgot half the stuff it was supposed to come with i.e. onions, cheese, sauce. It was basically a runny portion of cold spaghetti. So, after looking around for our waitress (why would she come back anyway, she already delivered the check, who cares that we finished our drinks 15 minutes ago?) we flag down a guy and ask for some onions. They never came. Finally, as we were getting ready to take our last bite, the waitress breezes by and I say something rude fairly loudly (hmm, imagine that, Jamie said something loudly). She turns around "Can I get you anything else? Refill on your drinks in a to-go cup?" Obviously, she realized that we were getting ready to be hooked up to an IV for fluids! So, I replied. No. Just take off some of the charge on this bill for this crappy food and service and get me the hell outta here. I'm never coming back. Thank you.

That's not really what I said, but it was something similiar. So, in conclusion. Steak and Shake sucks. At least it's January and I'm wearing a tank top and sandals. Have a good day!

And the Winner Is....

CINNAMON!

Although the name will probably get changed. I like the name Molly, Jeremy like Millie, and Emily votes for Dog Dog. Of course, a few weeks from now when I have to get up at 3 a.m. to take her outside to whiz, her new name will be goddangsonofa@$%@#$%! What have we gotten ourselves into?

To Be Or Not To Be....

That is the puppy question....

We decided no on the puppy I posted yesterday. She was very cute, but also very far away (Ohio), so we had to pay extra to ship her and we would have had to take delivery on Thursday! Yikes! I'm not ready yet!

Then, we talked to a guy in Minnesota about a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. Boy, are those puppies cute! But, after some further research, we decided that they may not be the right breed for us. They love to hunt, fish, etc, and we just aren't that active of people. I mean come on, you've seen us - we're fat! The right pet for us is probably the aquariam that you can download as your screensaver for your PC.

We decide to wait it out, and all of the sudden I get an email from a lady that I must have contacted during the puppy frenzy with the most GORGEOUS golden retrievers I have ever seen! It was 11 p.m. at night and I had a few drinks, so I decided to hold off on a response til this morning. Oh my gosh! Rested and sober, I still want one of those puppies! Just look at 'em, how can I resist? These puppies are in Florida, and I won't be able to pick them up for another 4 or 5 weeks, so I have time to prepare.

So, that is the question....

Potentially our new puppy! We found her in Ohio, and it is less expensive to ship her than to buy one here in Florida. WTF? Isn't she cute?

Getting a Dog

Jeremy really wants to get a dog. My immediate reaction is: NO! But that is because I have a bad history with dogs (I had the most perfect Golden Retriever ever and when I split from my ex, I had to give her up to him and it broke my heart!). My second reaction is: NO! But that is because I am already exhausted picking up after myself, Emily AND Jeremy and god forbid I add something else that I have to pick up after! My third reaction is: no (notice it is no longer in CAPS and there is no explanation point) But that is because honestly, deep down, I really really really really want a dog, I love animals, but I work full time and it just isn't fair to the dog for it to be crated 9+ hours a day! And that brings me to today: maybe. I really want a dog, I have the room in my heart to love another thing, Emily and Jer and myself being forced to clean up better after ourselves isn't a bad thing, and I do work really close to home that I could stop by and let the dog out at least once a day if not more. What do I do?

Leaning to Listen

I need to listen to what Jeremy has to say every now and then. Without going into details, I've been feeling under the weather for about the past week - and no, I'm not pregnant! He has been telling me to go spend the money on medicine (no doc, no ins, etc), but I was bullheaded and said no. Finally, today, I got the meds and I don't know if it's just in my head, but I swear I feel better already!

I can only say this on this blog because I know he won't read it and god forbid he find out that he was right and I was wrong!

And the Winner Is...

Me! I get the dummy award today!

Here is what I did to deserve it: I use Bellsouth email. And the "block sender" button is right next to another commonly used button (unlike on Yahoo where you have to search and search for it). Well, as you know, I work with my mom, and I get a lot of emails from her. Over the last week, I haven't gotten any! It's been really frustrating. We kept thinking it was some kind of technical problem, blah blah blah. Finally, this afternoon it hit me - maybe I accidently hit "block sender"? So, I go and check, and sure enough, she's on the list right next to all the porn spammers!

Ok, it can happen to anyone you say? I DID IT TWICE! We had this same problem 2 months ago, and the same thing had happened! That is why I get the dummy award, because it took me a week to figure it out!

Back to the Daily Grind

I am back at work today (I was back yesterday too, but only for a half day when my boss figured out that everything else was closed and all we were doing was surfing the net on company time). That means that the kid is back in daycare today. So she'll be sick again by Friday. Yay for me.

Being a mother is the toughest job I've ever had. Every other job you can complain about, and if you hate it, just quit. But not this one. It's also the best job I've ever had too. Jeremy's sister, Allison, was here for a visit last week and she made a comment to me on the 3rd morning of Emily being up all night about how she would never be able to have a child because she doesn't have the patience. It really made me think, because anyone who knows me knows that I have absolutely no patience. I'm the girl that gets out of line with a cart full of stuff that I just spent an hour shopping for because the checkout lady is too slow. I'm the girl that is constantly yelling at people on the road for only going the speedlimit. I'm the girl that can't wait until I get home to eat my McDonalds drive thru. I'm the girl that clicks and reclicks links on webpages because they are too slow in loading. But, when it comes to having patience with my child, it's not even an issue. I don't even think twice about staying up wiht her all night when she is sick. Yes, I'm tired the next day and like to complain about it, but I'll do it night after night after night. Being a mother changes you.

And with that - Congratulations to my friend Jeanne Anne who is expecting her first child and my friend Raquel who is expecting her second. And no, MrsTito will not be having another baby Tito anytime soon so don't ask!
